Luis Enrique Aráoz appointed as Peru's Prime Minister

Peru’s former defense minister and retired Army division commander, Luis Enrique Arroyo, was sworn in on March 17 local time as president of the Council of Ministers (prime minister) of Peru, succeeding Dennis Milareles, who resigned that day. Arroyo previously served as the defense minister and as the head of the National Institute for Civil Defense Research; this appointment comes as part of a cabinet reshuffle ahead of the Peruvian government’s vote of confidence in Congress.
