Golden Finance reports that on April 1, OpenAI has completed a round of $122.0 billion in fundraising, with the company valued at $852.0 billion. This marks the largest round of funding the company has completed to date, supporting its costly investments in chips, data centers, and talent. Of the funding being prepared over several months, most of the money comes from three large technology companies. Amazon agreed to invest $50.0 billion in this round, while Nvidia and SoftBank Group each invested $30.0 billion. A large portion of Amazon’s investment ($35.0 billion) depends on whether OpenAI can go public or hit technical milestones toward achieving artificial general intelligence. For the first time, OpenAI raised more than $3.0 billion from individual investors via banking channels. OpenAI said the company currently generates $2.0 billion in revenue per month. Enterprise sales currently account for 40% of its revenue, and this proportion is expected to rise to 50% by the end of the year.
