Lei Zhaozhi, Executive Vice President of the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Association: Technological innovation and industrial innovation are an important development direction in the “15th Five-Year Plan.” At present, both technological innovation and industrial innovation face some problems. First, colleges and research institutes produce many papers, but the transformation is relatively limited. Second, there are relatively fewer major original achievements. Third, the industrial sector overall lacks competitiveness and lacks technological support. So from this perspective, technological innovation and industrial innovation must be deeply integrated.
To improve the efficiency of transforming scientific and technological achievements, we need to strengthen in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research led by enterprises. We should establish a long-term mechanism in which enterprises set the questions, and universities, research institutes, and enterprises answer the same questions together, with market testing serving as the validation. In that way, technological innovation can be carried out around market needs and around the problems existing in industrial development, achieving an increase in the rate of converting achievements.

The forms for showcasing achievements are more diverse. Previously, it was more often inviting industry experts to share and exchange technical experience. This year, the forum focuses on fields such as embodied intelligence and intelligent connected vehicles, and adds interactive exhibition segments.
In addition, this year adds three areas—smart manufacturing, intelligent audio-visual, and social environment governance—focusing on new key industries and key domains, and sets up three sub-forums. This will enable standards and technological innovation to be more closely connected.
