U.S. Secretary of Defense: The goal is to destroy Iran's missiles, drones, and navy, and ensuring the open passage of the Strait of Hormuz has not been listed as a military objective.
Odaily Planet Daily reported that the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, said that the Pentagon’s goal is to destroy Iran’s missiles, drones, and navy. He did not list ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open as a military objective and said this is a task for other countries. Austin said, “The issue of the Strait of Hormuz… is not just an American issue.” The remarks echo U.S. President Trump’s call, as Trump urged other countries to address the strategic waterway that Iran has already blockaded. Austin said the “top priority” is to reach an agreement with Iran, but he did not specify what that agreement would include. (Jin10)
