People’s Finance News, March 31—according to a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announcement, on March 27, the MIIT and the National Health Commission jointly held a work meeting of the 2026 Leadership Group for Advancing the Development and Application of Medical Equipment.

The meeting emphasized that during the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, efforts should be coordinated and advanced overall, with key manufacturing industry chains’ high-quality development action plans implemented in a rolling manner, so as to continuously improve the resilience and safety level of the medical equipment industry chain.

It also stressed that a demand-driven approach should be followed to promote fusion and innovative development between medical equipment and technologies such as artificial intelligence and brain-computer interfaces, and to cultivate new growth drivers.

It further underscored that medical and engineering collaboration should be upheld, with end-to-end efforts to tackle technological breakthroughs and apply results, in order to enhance the capacity for integrated supply of both software and hardware.

It added that task-led execution should be maintained: by combining the implementation of key projects such as expanding and improving rehabilitation nursing capacity and strengthening the foundation of medical and health care, efforts should be made to raise the service level of medical equipment.
