Meta increases investment in Texas AI data center to $10 billion

Meta announced in local time on March 26 that it would increase its investment in the AI data center in El Paso, Texas, in the United States to $10 billion, aiming to reach 1 gigawatt of capacity before the facility is expected to go operational in 2028. Meta pledged last October to invest $1.5 billion in the El Paso data center. Meta said that after the El Paso data center goes into operation, it will create 300 new jobs, and projects already covered by signed contracts will add more than 5,000 megawatts of clean energy to the Texas power grid.
