Odaily Planet Daily reports that CZ said in a post on the X platform that cryptocurrencies only need to be upgraded to quantum-resistant (post-quantum) algorithms to address the impact of quantum computing, and there’s no need to panic. In terms of practical implementation, upgrading in a decentralized environment is difficult; disagreements over algorithm selection may arise and lead to a fork. Some projects that have stopped development may not upgrade, which will help clean up such projects. In the short term, new code may introduce vulnerabilities or security issues; users who self-custody their cryptocurrencies need to migrate their assets to a new wallet. Regarding the Bitcoin held by Satoshi, if the assets are moved, it means they are still active; if the assets are not moved within a specific time, the relevant addresses should be locked or destroyed to prevent them from being compromised by hackers. Fundamentally, encryption is easier than decryption, and more powerful computing capacity has positive significance; cryptocurrencies will continue to exist after the quantum era.
