SAIC Motor's first humanoid robot is deployed on the production line

On March 27, SAIC Motor Group’s first humanoid robot employee—“Nengzai No.1”—was officially deployed on the Buick-to-Boundary E7 battery mass-production line, taking on core processes such as cell gripping and feeding. This is SAIC Motor Group’s first case of a humanoid robot that has been truly put into production-line application.

The humanoid robot was jointly developed by SAIC-GM and Unitree Robotics. It has humanlike features such as visual perception, dual-arm coordinated operation, and force-controlled gripping, and can independently complete tasks including incoming cell identification, as well as intelligent path planning for gripping, without relying on fixed programming or precise incoming-part positioning.
