Shuāmáo (profit harvesting) is already dead. Those who are not convinced will be convinced after being counter-harvested a few more times.
The core of Shuāmáo is to profit from clone coins. Why could we profit in the past? Because there was a clone season. The market had expectations, project teams had expectations, and the profit-harvesting people also had expectations. Project teams dared to distribute generously, and those who received airdrops weren’t in a rush to sell. Often, the ones who held on the longest made the most money.
Now, it’s completely reversed.
Now, whoever takes profits sells, and those who hold longer lose more. Since everyone’s first reaction upon receiving is to sell, why would project teams still be generous? Anyway, it’s all going to dump eventually, so why not keep that part of the money themselves and dump it?
So, for many projects now, airdrops are no longer what they used to be. Take Aztec, for example — they simply don’t give anything at all. Even for projects still distributing airdrops, it’s mostly just for show. All the “witches” are arranged, and most people end up not even recouping their initial investment.
The premise that profit-harvesting can make money is gone.
In the past, airdrops were tools for wealth creation—project teams used future expectations to attract users, generate hype, and increase liquidity. Now, airdrops are more like a staged performance. Project teams don’t want to give much; users sell immediately upon receipt. Everyone knows what the other side is thinking, and no one even bothers to pretend.
Clone season probably won’t come back like it used to. Without clone season, there’s no cycle of issuing tokens, pumping prices, creating wealth, and attracting more people into the market. Once this cycle is broken, the profit-harvesting model is officially over.
Although profit-harvesting is over, there will still be opportunities to make money. There will be new ways to issue assets in the future. Seize the next opportunity, and you can turn things around again.
What you need to do now is actually very simple: preserve your principal, live well, stay healthy, and wait for the next big cycle opportunity.
