There's a case I think is worth paying attention to, involving the mysterious disappearance of an important figure in the crypto world. In March 2022, Sylwester Suszek, the founder and former chairman of Poland's largest crypto exchange BitBay, suddenly vanished at the age of 34. This guy was called the "King of Bitcoin" in the community, but after a business meeting, he simply disappeared from a gas station without a trace.
The disappearance is extremely bizarre. The surveillance cameras happened to be malfunctioning on the day he went missing, and police searches turned up no clues. But what’s truly crazy are the events that followed. His sister, Nicole Suszek, continued investigating on her own and discovered that Sylwester’s phone was still logging into the internet four days after he disappeared, moving along a highway.
Nicole also received some chilling messages. One audio clip sounded like her brother’s voice, but it seemed electronically processed. In the audio, the voice said he needed help and asked her to raise Bitcoin, worth about 12 million Polish zloty at the time, then transfer it to an address provided in an email. Even more terrifying, the audio was accompanied by a message: "This is not a joke, there will be a corpse photo in a week." Nicole said she didn’t transfer any money, but she later received more threatening messages involving dismemberment and demands to come home before Easter.
Nicole’s stance is very clear now: she believes her brother Sylwester Suszek was kidnapped and murdered. Although his body has not been found, these facts make other explanations seem implausible. Even after several years, Nicole continues her investigation and is still under threat. The case remains unresolved, and the mystery endures.
