Female employee "accuses" the director of Xinda Securities Research Institute of harassment. What happened?
On March 25, a report alleging “salacious” news circulated online.
The whistleblower claims to be Tang Chanyu, an employee of the Cinda Securities Research Institute, and the subject of the report is Zuo Qianming, the head of the Cinda Securities Research Institute, as well as the general manager of the Energy and Dual-Carbon Research Center and the Chief Energy Analyst.
According to the report, the incident occurred on the night of March 24. Tang Chanyu said that Zuo Qianming asked her to accompany him on a business trip to Shanghai to attend a series of meetings. After the dinner gathering ended, on the drive back to the hotel, Zuo Qianming, saying, “You look very tense—relax,” first touched her hand and then gradually reached her private parts. Tang Chanyu said she pushed him away on the spot and showed fear, but Zuo Qianming did not stop and made further inappropriate moves again.
After arriving at the hotel, Tang Chanyu said that in a public setting Zuo Qianming forcibly grabbed her, demanded that she “go back to my room,” and after she refused, he continued to chase and pull at her. He even attempted to shove her into the back seat of a taxi and said disturbing remarks such as, “Don’t be nervous, just get an injection—it’ll be fine.”
The whistleblower specifically mentioned that Zuo Qianming is highly respected across the team, the research institute, and within the industry. “Before this happened, I had always firmly believed that he was a highly respected and upright person who cared for his subordinates. This matter has dealt me a tremendous shock.”
The whistleblower said that coming forward today to disclose this publicly is to protect her legitimate rights and interests, and also to prevent such恶劣 events from happening to more colleagues. “I’m not afraid of the storms that may come ahead. As a young employee who graduated in 2023 and joined Cinda Securities, I still carry a pure-hearted belief that there is still some justice in this world.”
Public information shows that Zuo Qianming graduated from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). He previously served as deputy head of the Industry Consulting Division of the China Coal Industry Association (in charge of day-to-day work). He has more than ten years of research experience in the coal and energy sectors. He joined Cinda Securities in 2016. Since 2019, he has been responsible for research on the large energy sector, and led his team to win industry awards multiple times.
