The Michigan Public Service Commission has approved a 6.1% electricity rate hike for Consumers Energy, effective May 1. This will add an average of $6.46 to residential monthly bills for typical customers. The increase, which is 40% lower than Consumers Energy’s initial request, is intended to support improvements in the utility’s power grid reliability.
