Xinhua News Agency reported that the Central Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee director Song Tao stated that since taking office, the chairperson of the Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang), Cheng Li-wen, has repeatedly expressed the desire to visit the mainland. To promote the peaceful development of relations between the Kuomintang and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), as well as cross-strait relations, it is authorized to announce that the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and General Secretary Xi Jinping welcome and invite Cheng Li-wen to lead a Kuomintang delegation to visit Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Beijing from April 7 to 12.

Song Tao said he will communicate with the Kuomintang regarding Cheng Li-wen’s visit and make proper arrangements.

The Kuomintang chairman’s office stated that General Secretary Xi Jinping invited Cheng Li-wen to lead a delegation to visit the mainland, and Cheng Li-wen expressed gratitude and gladly accepted the invitation. It is hoped that both parties will work together to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, enhance cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, seek peace across the Taiwan Strait, and bring benefits to the people.
