U.S. President Trump said in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times that he hopes to obtain Iran’s oil and may seize Iran’s export hub, Kharg Island.

Trump said that maybe he will take Kharg Island, maybe he won’t. The U.S. has many options and can take it very easily, but that also means it would have to stay at Kharg Island for some time.

When asked whether a ceasefire agreement could be reached in the coming days and the Strait of Hormuz reopened, Trump emphasized that the indirect talks between the United States and Iran conducted through a “special envoy” via Pakistan are progressing well, and that an agreement could be reached quite quickly.

He also said that they have already bombed 13,000 targets, and there are still a few thousand targets to strike—about 3,000 targets left.
