Recently, China Securities Journal reporters conducted research and learned that, under the guidance of national strategic policies, more and more listed companies in Guangdong are actively seizing historical development opportunities and accelerating their layout in the future energy industry.
Anchoring Future Energy Development Opportunities
This year’s government work report proposed establishing a growth and risk-sharing mechanism for future industry investment, cultivating and developing future energy, quantum technology, bio-manufacturing, embodied intelligence, brain-machine interfaces, 6G, and other future industries. Industry insiders say that laying out the future energy industry is of great strategic significance for the country to build a new energy system, strengthen the bottom line of energy security, and seize the commanding heights of the global energy industry.
In constructing the future energy industry landscape, developing the hydrogen energy industry is one of the key pathways for the country to achieve its “dual carbon” goals and build a new energy system. On March 16, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued a notice on “Conducting Pilot Projects for Comprehensive Hydrogen Energy Applications,” clearly stating that through a “competition-based selection” approach, urban agglomerations with good industrial foundations, rich application scenarios, strong resource guarantee capabilities, and complete industrial chains will be selected to first carry out hydrogen energy comprehensive application pilot projects.
Reporters learned from Guangzhou Development that under the guidance of the latest national policies, Guangzhou Development is focusing on its core energy business and actively building a comprehensive energy service system under the new power system. From a full-scenario perspective of the “production, storage, transportation, refueling, and usage” industrial chain, it is actively conducting research on hydrogen energy application technologies and industrial exploration. Through multi-route technology exploration, infrastructure construction, and application scenario demonstration, it is comprehensively promoting the construction of the hydrogen energy industrial chain and relying on the industrial resources of Nansha District to create a “light-storage-charging-hydrogen” multi-energy complementary smart energy integration technology demonstration project, contributing to the construction of the future energy system.
Relevant personnel from Guangzhou Development introduced that, in the upstream link of the industrial chain, the company is actively implementing multi-route hydrogen production exploration such as water electrolysis and methanol reforming. Currently, two hydrogen production projects have been completed, and plans are underway to develop methanol or natural gas reforming hydrogen production projects to further expand hydrogen sources. In addition, Guangzhou Development is steadily advancing the construction of hydrogen refueling stations, actively promoting the application of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and steadily promoting application scenario demonstrations, while actively advancing hydrogen blending in gas pipelines and hydrogen-blended power generation in gas power plants.
Accelerating Layout in the New Energy Storage Track
New energy storage is the core support for our country to build a new energy system. It has strategic significance for ensuring the safety of the new power system, promoting energy low-carbon transformation, and serving the “dual carbon” goals. This year’s government work report once again mentioned “developing new energy storage,” pointing out the direction for the development of the new energy storage industry.

In the field of cutting-edge battery technology research and development, in recent years, Penghui Energy has steadily advanced the research and development of next-generation technologies such as solid-state batteries and sodium-ion batteries. Currently, the company’s solid-state battery pilot line has been built and is operating stably.
