Protecting Field Safety: Ministry of Public Security Deploys Crackdown on Manufacturing and Selling Fake and Substandard Seeds, Pesticides, and Other Agricultural Inputs
To fully ensure the preparation for spring plowing and grain production, according to the unified arrangements for agricultural material counterfeit prevention during spring plowing preparation, the Ministry of Public Security’s Environmental Resources and Food and Drug Crime Investigation Bureau recently issued a notice to deploy severe legal crackdowns on crimes related to the production and sale of counterfeit and inferior seeds, pesticides, and other agricultural materials, effectively safeguarding the agricultural production order and the legitimate rights and interests of the vast number of farmers. The notice requires seizing the peak demand period for seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers during spring plowing preparation, and the time nodes with large production and reserve volumes of agricultural materials, to conduct precise and in-depth strikes against “black dens” and “black workshops” producing and selling counterfeit and inferior agricultural materials, online sales of counterfeit goods, traveling sales of counterfeit products, as well as criminal activities by “agricultural deception groups” and the production and sale of counterfeit and inferior agricultural materials under the guise of “contract agriculture.” It is necessary to strengthen criminal protection for the seed industry, widely investigate leads, and legally crack down on trademark infringement, counterfeiting, and commercial secret infringement crimes, providing precise services to support seed enterprises. It is also essential to legally and severely crack down on the illegal production, sale, and use of banned or restricted pesticides, implementing a full-chain crackdown on “production, sales, and use” crimes, and effectively building a solid food safety defense line “from farm to table.” (CCTV News)
