The new MTR Q-train was put into service on the Tsuen Wan Line this morning.
The MTR announced that the new signaling system for the Tsuen Wan Line has been operating smoothly since it was put into service in the middle of this month. The first train using the new signaling system, the Q-train, officially began serving passengers on the Tsuen Wan Line this morning.
The new train is equipped with a “Train Performance and Health Monitoring System,” which, in conjunction with the new signaling system, allows the MTR to collect smart data in real-time to monitor the operation of the trains and signaling system, ultimately helping to improve operational and maintenance management efficiency in the long term.
The MTR pointed out that the new train departed from Tsuen Wan Station at 10:57 AM this morning, heading towards Central Station. Over a hundred rail enthusiasts were present at Tsuen Wan Station waiting to witness the inaugural journey of the new train on the Tsuen Wan Line. The new train operated smoothly today.
The MTR continues to invest resources in updating railway assets, ensuring that railway equipment and services keep pace with the times. The replacement project for the urban line trains represents the largest investment the MTR has ever made in trains. The new trains have been gradually put into service on the Kwun Tong Line and the Island Line over the past few years, and the MTR will gradually replace the first-generation trains operating on the urban line.
