The Public Service Commission of South Carolina has approved Duke Energy’s plan to build new natural gas generation in Anderson County. This project aims to support the growing energy needs of the state, create thousands of construction jobs, and significantly contribute to the local economy. The facility, which will be Duke Energy’s first new generation in the state in a decade, is anticipated to begin construction in summer 2027 and serve customers by early 2031.
