Survey: Confidence in the U.S. job market is collapsing among professionals, with only 28% of employees optimistic about job prospects

According to Mars Finance, on March 29, KobeissiLetter released data analysis stating that confidence among American workers in the job market is collapsing: According to Gallup’s latest survey, by the fourth quarter of 2025, only 28% of American employees believe “now is a good time to find a quality job,” the lowest level in at least four years. This figure has plummeted by 42 percentage points since the second quarter of 2022. Employees with a college degree are the most pessimistic, with only 19% of degree holders believing now is a good time to find a quality job, compared to 73% in the second quarter of 2022. The percentage for employees without a college degree is 35%, also the lowest level in four years. Among them, the confidence of young employees is the lowest, at just 20%, while the percentage for employees aged 65 and older is 41%. Americans’ pessimism about the job market has reached a historically rare level.
