Golden Finance reported that on March 29, U.S. officials said the Pentagon is preparing for several weeks of ground operations in Iran, as thousands of U.S. soldiers and Marines arrive in the Middle East; if President Trump chooses to escalate the war, this could become a dangerous new phase of the war. Officials said any potential ground operation would not be a full-scale invasion and could instead be carried out as a raid launched jointly by special operations forces and conventional infantry units. Such a mission could put U.S. personnel at risk from a range of threats, including Iranian drones and missiles, ground fire, and improvised explosive devices. As of Saturday, it was still unclear whether Trump would approve or reject the Pentagon’s full or partial plans. (The Washington Post)
