Kim Jong Un observes weapons test
According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 29th, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, observed the ground ignition test of a high-thrust solid fuel engine using carbon fiber composite materials, as well as the tank capability assessment test organized by the Academy of Defense Science’s Armored Weapon Research Institute. It was reported that the upgraded high-thrust solid fuel engine has a maximum thrust of 2.5 million Newtons (kN), and the related tests are part of the national defense development plan during the new five-year plan period. Kim Jong-un stated that the updated engine tests have strategic significance. The report mentioned that the tank capability assessment test aims to verify the combat effectiveness of the new main battle tank’s active protection system, specifically testing the system’s ability to neutralize anti-tank measures approaching from various directions. Kim Jong-un stated that the tests confirmed the new main battle tank’s interception system has the capability to defeat almost all existing anti-tank measures. The report also stated that Kim Jong-un proposed several important tasks to further promote the qualitative and quantitative development of the nation’s strategic military capabilities.
