Is China forcing Iran to participate in negotiations with the U.S.? Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds
On March 26, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a routine press conference.
AFP asked whether Iran denies having consultations with the U.S., despite Trump stating they hope to reach an agreement. Does China have any knowledge of the consultations between Iran and the U.S.? Is China forcing Iran to communicate with the U.S.?

Lin Jian stated that China has repeatedly emphasized that the prolongation of the conflict does not serve the interests of any party. Continuing this war will only lead to more casualties and unnecessary losses, resulting in further spillover of the situation. The urgent task is to actively promote peace and dialogue, seizing the opportunity for peace to quell the flames of war.
He indicated that China supports all efforts that contribute to de-escalating tensions. All parties should work together to create conditions for initiating truly meaningful and sincere peace talks. China is willing to continue playing a constructive role in this regard.
