During the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026, the Bank of Communications Hainan Branch actively shouldered the responsibility of financial services, fully promoting the quality upgrade of payment service scenarios across Hainan Province, and establishing a robust payment service guarantee line in the Boao region to continuously enhance the convenience of regional payments.
The Bank of Communications Hainan Branch strictly implements the relevant work requirements of the State Council General Office’s “Opinions on Further Optimizing Payment Services to Enhance Payment Convenience,” focusing on the foreign financial service demands during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026. It leverages multiple measures such as optimizing the foreign card acceptance system, enhancing the convenience of cross-border payments, ensuring cash supply guarantees, and improving self-service machine services to meticulously support full-process payment services during the forum, striving to create a high-quality and efficient foreign financial service environment.
To accurately meet the foreign currency cash exchange needs of foreign nationals in Hainan, the Bank of Communications has specially set up foreign currency exchange machines at Boao Airport, with equipment featuring a bilingual service interface in Chinese and English. It supports two-way exchanges for major currencies such as USD, GBP, JPY, EUR, and KRW, allowing foreigners to directly exchange foreign currency for RMB cash or to easily convert to digital RMB with a single click. The entire process is simple to operate and efficient, significantly reducing exchange time and improving service efficiency.
At the same time, the bank continues to strengthen the routine inspections of foreign currency exchange services in cooperating hotels and provides specialized training for staff, solidifying frontline service responsibilities to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of hotel foreign currency exchange services during the forum, further optimizing the cash exchange service experience for foreign visitors to China, and delivering warm, professional, and efficient financial services.
Currently, the Bank of Communications Hainan Branch has achieved full coverage of foreign card acceptance functions for its collaborating card-accepting merchants in the Boao region. To further solidify the foundation of payment services, the bank focuses on the core area of Boao and key cooperating merchants, comprehensively completing special inspections of foreign card-accepting merchants while simultaneously conducting specialized training for foreign card acquiring businesses to ensure smooth processing of foreign payment transactions. Additionally, the bank has prominently displayed foreign card acceptance signs and payment convenience promotional materials at the stores of cooperating merchants, facilitating quick recognition and convenient use for foreign visitors to Hainan, fully building a smooth and worry-free foreign payment channel.
In terms of cash service guarantees, the bank continues to optimize the regional cash circulation environment, focusing on strengthening the special reserves of small denomination RMB and foreign currency cash in Qionghai. It has introduced a “Pocket Change” convenience service product to meet the cash exchange needs of customers at branch locations and has proactively provided “Pocket Change” on-site exchange services for merchants near Boao, achieving the goal of “efficient completion of small change exchange without leaving home,” fully ensuring uninterrupted and adequate cash services in the region.
For self-service financial service scenarios, the Bank of Communications Hainan Branch’s ATMs fully support cash withdrawal services for foreign cards from international mainstream card organizations such as UnionPay, VISA, MASTER, American Express, and JCB. All self-service devices are equipped with a bilingual operating interface in Chinese and English; at the same time, exclusive foreign card withdrawal signs are prominently displayed on the doors and bodies of self-service equipment in the Qionghai area for easy identification by foreign customers. Furthermore, the self-service machines have specially opened a function for cash withdrawals of small denominations of 10 yuan, accurately meeting customers’ needs for small denomination cash withdrawals and further refining the details of convenient services.
