Xinhua News Agency, New York, March 27 - The three major stock indexes in New York fell significantly on the 27th.

By the close of trading that day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had dropped 793.47 points from the previous trading day, closing at 45166.64 points, with a decline of 1.73%; the S&P 500 index fell by 108.31 points, closing at 6368.85 points, with a decline of 1.67%; the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 459.72 points, closing at 20948.36 points, with a decline of 2.15%.

In terms of sectors, eight of the eleven sectors of the S&P 500 index declined while three rose. The consumer discretionary sector and the financial sector led the declines with drops of 3.05% and 2.49%, respectively, while the energy sector and the consumer staples sector led the gains with increases of 1.87% and 0.78%, respectively.
