On March 27, People’s Financial News reported that on March 25, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Grossi, who was visiting China. Liu Bin stated that China supports the IAEA in playing its proper role in improving global governance in the nuclear field and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the IAEA to enhance the level of international cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, build a community of shared nuclear safety, and jointly defend the international nuclear non-proliferation system. Grossi appreciated China’s proposed Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, highly valued China’s role as a global leader in nuclear energy and nuclear technology applications, and expressed that the IAEA is willing to deepen cooperation with China to jointly maintain the global nuclear order and promote international peace and security. The two sides also exchanged views on the Iran nuclear issue and the Ukraine crisis.
