The European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) delegation is visiting China for the first time in eight years, with a group of nine visiting Beijing and Shanghai from March 31 to April 2, focusing on digital economy and e-commerce regulation issues.

During the visit, the delegation will meet with Shen Chunyang, Director of the Legal Work Committee of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, and Luo Wen, Director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, among others.

In addition, the delegation plans to discuss the online trade and market access challenges faced by European companies in China with the European Chamber of Commerce, and will work with the General Administration of Customs of China and logistics companies to gain firsthand understanding of customs regulations and import-export activities at Pudong International Airport.

China is the EU’s third-largest trading partner, and the EU’s trade deficit with China continues to expand. This visit will help EU lawmakers understand China’s innovative technology sector and the leading position of e-commerce.
