The U.S. has been reported to be contemplating a so-called "final blow" military option against Iran.
On March 26, People’s Finance News reported that, according to multiple U.S. officials and informed sources, the U.S. Department of Defense is developing a so-called “last strike” military option against Iran, which may include the use of ground troops and large-scale airstrikes. Analysts suggest that if diplomatic negotiations do not make progress, especially amid ongoing obstacles in the Strait of Hormuz, the likelihood of escalation will further increase. Some U.S. officials believe that ending the conflict through strong military action could provide more leverage for subsequent negotiations. Reports indicate that the options being discussed internally in the U.S. include blockades or military actions against Iran’s main oil export hubs and key islands, as well as plans to intercept Iranian oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, the U.S. military has prepared strike plans targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, which include conducting ground operations deep inland or launching large-scale airstrikes. However, these plans have not yet been finalized, and the White House stated that related ground actions remain “hypothetical.” Recently, the White House indicated that if there is no substantial progress in negotiations with Iran, the U.S. does not rule out further escalation of actions. Meanwhile, the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the Middle East, including fighter jet formations and ground troops. Iran has previously warned that if attacked, it would carry out large-scale retaliation in the Gulf region. (CCTV News)
