This week's copper cable operating rate increased, and next week it may rise significantly to 58.36%.
This week (Feb 20–Feb 26), SMM copper wire and cable companies’ operating rate was 27.72%, up 12.52 percentage points month over month. After the holiday, starting from the eighth day of the first lunar month, most cable companies have resumed work, but due to a lag in end-market recovery, they have not yet fully returned to full production; production is mainly focused on executing orders on hand from before the holiday. After the Lantern Festival, the end-market industries will gradually resume work, and the pace of order releases is expected to accelerate. SMM expects that next week (Feb 27–Mar 5) the operating rate for copper wire and cable will increase 30.64 percentage points month over month to 58.36%, which is 1.25 percentage points higher than the second week of last year’s resumption.
