By the end of January, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (chargers) in our country reached 20,698,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 49.6%.
On February 27, the National Energy Administration released data on nationwide electric vehicle charging infrastructure for January 2026. According to data from the National Charging Facilities Monitoring Service Platform, as of the end of January 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure units (plugs) in China reached 20.698 million, up 49.6% year over year. Of this total, the number of public charging facilities (plugs) was 4.801 million, up 31.2% year over year; the total rated power of public charging facilities reached 226 million kW, with an average power of about 47.01 kW. The number of private charging facilities (plugs) was 15.897 million, up 56.1% year over year; the installed electricity capacity for private charging facilities reached 138 million kVA.
