In the first two months of this year, our country's total social logistics volume reached 58.6 trillion yuan, showing a clear rebound trend.

The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing announced today (the 27th) the logistics operation data for the first two months of this year. The data shows that logistics operations in our country have made a good start, with social logistics demand steadily recovering.

In January and February this year, the total social logistics volume in our country reached 58.6 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7% calculated at comparable prices, with growth rates increasing by 1.6 and 1.4 percentage points compared to the entire previous year and the same period last year, respectively, indicating a noticeable recovery trend. In terms of structure, domestic production and consumption as well as international import logistics demand have improved simultaneously, with logistics demand in various fields accelerating compared to the same period last year. In January and February, the total logistics volume of industrial products increased by 6.3% year-on-year. Among them, more than 80% of industrial subsectors experienced growth, with the manufacturing sectors of computers, communications, and other electronic equipment, as well as high-end equipment manufacturing such as railways, ships, and aerospace, all exceeding 10% growth.

International logistics growth has significantly rebounded. In January and February, the total logistics volume of imported goods increased by 9.6% year-on-year, with growth accelerating by 9.1 percentage points compared to the entire previous year, indicating a good start with high growth. In January and February, the total logistics volume of units and household items increased by 9.4% year-on-year, with growth improving by 4.3 percentage points compared to the entire previous year. The vigorous development of new business formats such as instant retail has effectively driven the strong growth of new consumption logistics demand. In January and February, online commodity retail sales increased by 10.3% year-on-year, the highest growth rate since June 2024. Rural consumption growth outpaced urban areas, with the proportion of county and township consumption steadily increasing. Rural e-commerce, urban-rural joint distribution, and the logistics demand for agricultural products continue to be active, further solidifying the resilient growth foundation of unit and household logistics.

The logistics market size continues to expand, and operational quality and efficiency are steadily improving.

From the perspective of total revenue in the logistics industry, our country’s logistics market size continues to expand, achieving steady growth at the beginning of the year, further demonstrating the resilience of modern logistics development.

In January and February, the total revenue of the logistics industry reached 2.0 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, with growth rates improving by 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. In January and February, the average logistics industry prosperity index in China was 49.4%, indicating overall stable recovery in the industry, with operational prosperity levels remaining generally stable.

The freight network remains smooth and operates efficiently, with the transportation structure accelerating in optimization. In January and February, the volume of railway freight shipments increased by 1.6% year-on-year, with container shipments increasing by 10.5% year-on-year.

In January and February, the vitality of cross-border logistics continues to rebound, with the international air cargo and mail transport volume reaching 712,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.8%; the China-Europe freight train service has cumulatively operated 3,501 trains, a year-on-year increase of 31.7%.

The supply and demand in the logistics market are accelerating in optimization, service price levels are gradually warming up, and the operational vitality of logistics companies is trending towards improvement. Data shows that in January and February, key logistics companies’ business revenue increased by 6.6% year-on-year, with growth rates improving by 1.0 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

Overall, the logistics operation has started smoothly, and the logistics operations in the first quarter are expected to maintain a steady and progressive development trend, with fields such as supply chain, cross-border logistics, and multimodal transport continuing to maintain rapid development momentum.
