Hong Kong–Singapore Relations | Huang Xun-cai Visits Beijing’s Capital: Brings Cooperation Opportunities to Singapore’s Business Community
Singapore’s Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, accompanied by Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-kee, Deputy Secretary for Finance Wong Wai-lun, Secretary for Development Ning Hanhao, Secretary for Innovation and Technology and Industry Sun Dong, and Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Chan Pak-lai, visited the Hong Kong Park of the Lok Ma Chau Loop Technology and Innovation Cooperation Zone in the Northern Metropolis.
Ning Hanhao and the team from the Northern Metropolis Coordinating Office first introduced the overall planning and latest progress of the Northern Metropolis, as well as how to take a multi-pronged approach to accelerate development and attract investment.
Subsequently, the delegation toured the wet laboratory building at the Hong Kong Park, which officially opened in December last year, and listened to Sun Dong’s introduction of the park’s overall planning, industrial layout, and progress in attracting investment.
Chan Kwok-kee stated that this visit allowed the Singapore Prime Minister and his delegation to gain a deeper understanding of the overall planning and future development direction of the Northern Metropolis, and to comprehend the potential investment and cooperation opportunities that the Northern Metropolis presents for the Singapore business community and enterprises. The visit also further promoted communication and cooperation between Hong Kong and Singapore.
He also pointed out that the Hong Kong Park at Lok Ma Chau is one of the four major cooperation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aimed at developing into a world-class technology innovation hub that connects the mainland with the international community, as well as an important source for cultivating new productive forces in the country. He hopes that the two regions can further strengthen cooperation in innovation technology, talent exchange, and industrial collaboration, jointly promoting regional innovation and technology development.
