According to the United States Geological Survey Earthquake Information Network, the earthquake struck at 5:37 PM local time on the 24th (12:37 PM Beijing time), with the epicenter located at 18.67 degrees south latitude and 175.56 degrees west longitude, and a depth of 229.5 kilometers.
