Nuku’alofa news: A 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea 166 kilometers west of the town of Neiafu in Tonga on the 24th. There are currently no reports of casualties or property damage. According to the United States Geological Survey Earthquake Information Network, the earthquake struck at 5:37 PM local time on the 24th (12:37 PM Beijing time), with the epicenter located at 18.67 degrees south latitude and 175.56 degrees west longitude, and a depth of 229.5 kilometers. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning for this earthquake. Tonga is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plate collisions frequently cause earthquakes.
