The Mina Ahmadi oil refinery in Kuwait was attacked again on Friday, with some units shutting down. The refinery was also hit the previous day, and energy infrastructure across the Middle East has been attacked in succession.

According to Kuwaiti media outlet KUNA, the plant was hit multiple times by drone attacks, and some equipment caught fire. The refinery’s daily processing capacity is 346,000 barrels per day.

KUNA reported that firefighting and emergency rescue teams had rushed to the scene to put out the fires. At present, there are no reports of casualties.

On Thursday, an operating unit at the Mina Ahmadi refinery, as well as other units at the Mina Abdullah refinery with a daily processing capacity of 454,000 barrels, were attacked; the fires triggered by the strikes were subsequently extinguished. A person familiar with the matter said on Thursday that one facility had resumed normal operations, while another facility had been in a shutdown state due to reduced crude oil output, but no further details were provided.

With exports through the Strait of Hormuz still blocked, Kuwait’s crude oil production has fallen by at least half compared with last month’s level of 2.6 million barrels per day.
