U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessette denies reports by The Financial Times regarding the Federal Reserve's regulatory positions and the Bank of England model
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent issued a statement on social platform X denying the content of a report by The Financial Times. The report stated that the U.S. plans to use the legal framework between the Bank of England and the Chancellor of the Exchequer as a model for the relationship between the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve. Bessent said, “The long-standing Bank of England has many commendable aspects, but the United States has never considered copying its operational framework across the Atlantic.” (Sina Finance)
