The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office said on the 11th that a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, and the vessel caught fire. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office issued a statement saying the incident occurred 11 nautical miles north of Oman (about 20 kilometers). It is reported that the ship has requested assistance, and the crew is evacuating the vessel. Currently, the extent of damage to the ship and any casualties are unknown. The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is a strategic global chokepoint. After the United States and Israel launched a military strike against Iran on February 28, the passage through this strait has attracted international attention. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office is a maritime security coordination center supported by the UK Navy, mainly responsible for reporting maritime conditions in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and Persian Gulf to support commercial ships and assist in ensuring the safety of seafarers.
