According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 26th local time that Iran has allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The report said that Trump made these remarks during a White House cabinet meeting, elaborating on the “gift” he previously mentioned from Iran.

Trump said that Iran had proposed to allow 8 large oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz a few days ago, and they fulfilled their promise. “I think they are serious, they are genuine, and in the end, it’s 10 ships.”

The White House has not responded to further details about these ships.

At the time of making these remarks, Trump was applying pressure on Iran, demanding that they reach an agreement to open the strategic maritime chokepoint of the Strait of Hormuz and to halt Iran’s nuclear program.

It was reported that Trump’s earlier comments about the “gift” had caused confusion, as he said Iran had made a costly energy-related concession to the United States. He refused to disclose the exact meaning at that time.

“They gave us a gift, and the gift has arrived today. It’s a very valuable gift, worth a lot,” Trump said on the 24th.
