BTC has been hovering around the 74K level for a while. The Federal Reserve's interest rate decision is like a sword hanging over everyone's head, and the market is choosing to stay on the sidelines, waiting for the dust to settle.

This kind of market situation is somewhat awkward for spot holders. The price hasn't fallen, so they are reluctant to cut losses and exit; but it hasn't risen either, so capital is stuck here, unable to enjoy the benefits of an upward move, while also bearing the cost of time. If both bullish and bearish views lack confidence, it seems like there's only waiting to do.
Options offer a different approach at this moment. When the underlying price is sideways, the time value of options decays at a steady rate. This means that selling options strategies can turn this "waiting period" into a source of income. Whether selling calls or puts, as long as the underlying doesn't experience a sharp, one-sided move, time itself becomes your friend.
The core of this logic lies in a re-understanding of "volatility." Spot traders care about direction, but options traders can also trade time and volatility. When the market expectation is stuck, implied volatility is often relatively high, while actual volatility may be lower than the pricing suggests. This mismatch presents an opportunity for option sellers.
Of course, this doesn't mean blindly selling options. Position management, strike price selection, and expiration timing all need to be adjusted based on your risk tolerance and market judgment. But compared to passive waiting in spot trading, options at least offer a way to turn a stalemate into cash flow.
At the 74K level, which is neither here nor there, perhaps more important than the direction is how to make time work for you rather than against you.
