Iranian President Cautions Against Ignoring Israeli ‘Criminal Actions’
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian cautioned on Wednesday that ongoing “negligence and indifference” toward what he described as Israeli “criminal actions” would risk further intensifying the regional crisis.
Pezeshkian said he discussed the situation and the impact of ongoing US-Israeli strikes on Iran with French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone call, according to a statement from his office.
Iran is “determined to fully defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty,” he stressed, noting that the country has been attacked “for the second time in nine months while engaged in negotiations.”
He condemned the US and Israeli actions as “clear violations of international law” and placed responsibility on “the United States and other supporters of this regime.”
Pezeshkian added that the assaults have worsened insecurity in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in “disruptions in navigation.”
Macron, meanwhile, expressed that France is “ready to take any action to restore the path of diplomacy,” emphasizing the importance of de-escalating tensions.
Since February 28, US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran have caused over 1,340 deaths, including senior officials. Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
