Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on the 25th that Vietnam is a reliable partner and friend of Russia, and the Russia-Vietnam relationship has withstood the test of time. According to the Kremlin website, Putin held talks with visiting Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính at the Kremlin on the same day. Putin said that in 2026, bilateral trade between Russia and Vietnam continued to grow, and both sides signed agreements to cooperate on building Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant. He emphasized that Russia and Vietnam trust each other. Phạm Minh Chính said that the current international situation is complex and changing, and Vietnam and Russia should establish a long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation direction to promote deeper, more pragmatic, and more effective development of bilateral relations. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a routine press conference that the construction of Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant will ensure Vietnam’s energy security and provide strong momentum for expanding cooperation in high-tech, basic science, and applied scientific research between Russia and Vietnam. On the 23rd, the Russian and Vietnamese sides signed a government inter-agency agreement on cooperation to build Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant. (Xinhua)
