Japanese Finance Minister: Speculative oil futures trading is affecting the foreign exchange market

Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki of Japan stated that there are opinions suggesting that speculative trading in the crude oil futures market is affecting the foreign exchange market.

Katayama Satsuki told reporters that, considering the impact of foreign exchange on people’s lives and the economy, the government will take all possible measures across various market aspects whenever necessary.

Katayama Satsuki did not respond to reports that the Ministry of Finance is discussing potential interventions in the oil futures market with market participants.
