Will Skoda exit the Chinese market? Volkswagen China responds: Sales will continue until mid-year, with ongoing after-sales service.
On March 26, regarding rumors that Skoda will exit the Chinese market, Volkswagen China responded to the “Daily Economic News” reporter: “Skoda Auto has adjusted its global strategy, focusing on high-growth markets such as India and ASEAN. To ensure a smooth transition, Skoda Auto’s sales in China will continue until mid-2026. Skoda Auto has been in the Chinese market for nearly 20 years, earning the trust of over 3 million customers. In the future, Skoda customers in China will continue to receive comprehensive warranty and after-sales support.”

Public information shows that in 2025, the Skoda brand will produce approximately 74,000 vehicles at its India factory, more than doubling from 33,000 in 2024; during the same period, it also OEMed over 85,000 vehicles for other brands within the Volkswagen Group.
Volkswagen China further emphasized its firm commitment to the Chinese market: “China has always been at the core of Volkswagen Group’s global strategy. The group has nearly 40 factories in China and has established the largest R&D center outside Germany—the Volkswagen (China) Technology Co., Ltd. (VCTC)—to continuously advance intelligent connected vehicle technology. VCTC collaborates with the group’s software company CARIAD China, local technology partners, and joint ventures to develop electrification platforms and software solutions tailored for the Chinese market, reducing product development cycles by 30% and costs by 40%. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Group is continuously enriching its product lineup, integrating global standards with local innovation to better meet Chinese customer needs.”
