U.S. initial unemployment claims rose to 210,000 last week

The U.S. Department of Labor announced that for the week ending March 21, the number of initial unemployment claims was 210,000, an increase of 5,000 from the previous week, in line with market expectations; the previous figure was revised to 205,000.

The four-week moving average of initial unemployment claims in the U.S. last week was 210,500, a decrease of 250 from the previous week.

As of the week ending March 14, the number of continued unemployment claims in the U.S. was 1.819 million, a decrease of 32,000 from the previous week, compared to market expectations of 1.848 million.
