Recently, some Android users reported receiving notifications that their images and videos were being unexpectedly deleted while using the Meituan app. Meituan customer service responded, “This issue mainly occurs when the Android system, in very rare cases, encounters conflicts with third-party SDKs during automatic cache clearing in the app, leading to anomalies. Since the problem was identified, over 180 users have contacted customer service, with an estimated potential impact on several hundred users. We have promptly implemented an emergency fix after discovering the issue.” Meituan customer service emphasized that this problem only affects users’ local phone systems; the Meituan app does not read, store, or transfer any user personal data, and user privacy and account information remain unaffected. It is reported that after discovering the issue, Meituan quickly established a dedicated technical support team, collaborating with professional security technology teams to assist affected users in recovering their data. Currently, Meituan customer service has apologized to each affected user and will bear all costs and compensate for any losses. (21st Century Business Herald)
