Iran seeks to impose transit fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz
People’s Financial News, March 26 — According to reports, early this morning local time, the Chairman of Iran’s Islamic Parliament Civil Committee stated, “We are seeking legislation that can legally uphold Iran’s sovereignty, jurisdiction, and regulation over the Strait of Hormuz, while also generating revenue for the country through tolls.” The draft bill has been prepared but has not yet reached the full proposal stage. It will be submitted to the Parliament Research Center next week for refinement with the involvement of legal teams, and after the parliamentary session, the plan will be submitted and followed up on. Under this bill, Iran will impose tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. (CCTV News)
