Humanoid Robot Half-Marathon Training Camp Opens

Beijing News, March 20 — (Reporter Chen Hang) The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center (a joint initiative between the national and local governments to develop embodied intelligent robots) (hereafter referred to as Beijing Humanoid) held the “Humanoid Robot Half Marathon Training Camp Opening and Handover Ceremony” on the 19th. Beijing Humanoid delivered 15 units of “Embodied Tiangong 3.0” and “Embodied Tiangong Ultra” general-purpose robots to multiple universities including Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as secondary development partners such as NIO and China State Shipbuilding Corporation. They also provided comprehensive technical support for the universal embodied intelligence platform “Huisi Kaiwu.”

Li Ye Chuan, Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing and Equipment Industry Department at the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, stated that embodied intelligence, as a key future industry cultivated in Beijing, is entering a critical stage of technological breakthroughs and scene applications. Moving forward, Beijing will continue to guide Beijing Humanoid to host the “Tiangong Kaiwu” university robot innovation application competition, relying on “meetings and competitions,” offering hundreds of open-source Tiangong platforms nationwide, achieving breakthroughs in versatile Tiangong skills, and expanding application scenarios.

Tang Jian, CTO of Beijing Humanoid, said that the humanoid robot marathon is not only a speed contest but also a test of the robot’s stability, reliability, and consistency limits. The launch of this training camp and equipment delivery will enable university research teams and industry partners to share core technological achievements. Using the event as a link, it will promote technological innovation, refine and verify in real-world scenarios, and continuously push the technological limits of embodied intelligence in both hardware and the “brain.”

It is reported that the core equipment delivered includes 6 full-sized “Embodied Tiangong 3.0” humanoid robots and 9 “Embodied Tiangong Ultra” units. These robots, capable of autonomous operation and open development, will serve as the core training equipment for the half marathon training camp. They will work in conjunction with the “Huisi Kaiwu” universal embodied intelligence platform, providing integrated hardware and software support, offering comprehensive technical guarantees from hardware operation to platform development for participating teams. They also represent an important physical carrier for Beijing Humanoid to open core technological achievements to industry-university-research partners and jointly build an open-source embodied intelligence ecosystem.

At the ceremony, several technicians from Beijing Humanoid launched the first training course, focusing on core topics such as robot motion control, autonomous navigation, and operation of the embodied intelligence platform, providing professional training and full-chain technical guidance for participating teams.

It is also known that the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Humanoid Robot Half Marathon and Beijing Yizhuang Half Marathon will be held on April 19. They will adopt a “human-machine co-running” mode, with human runners and humanoid robots starting simultaneously on the same track, separated by iron horse barriers or green belts. The humanoid robot half marathon will feature autonomous navigation and remote control groups, competing in a mixed timing format. (End)
