The Trump administration has waived summer gasoline sales restrictions to help ease soaring oil prices during the Iran conflict.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued an emergency waiver to lift restrictions on the sale of E15 gasoline, which contains 15% ethanol. To reduce air pollution, the agency had previously limited the sale of E15 gasoline from June to September.

The EPA also issued a waiver to remove all federal restrictions on the sale of E10 gasoline, a blend containing 10% ethanol. These waivers will take effect on May 1.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated at a conference in Houston, Texas, that the waivers will ensure the continued sale of E15 and E10 gasoline, providing more fuel options for consumers and preventing disruptions in the U.S. fuel supply.

According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), since the U.S. launched military action against Iran, gasoline prices have surged over 30% due to widespread disruptions in oil supplies, reaching $3.98 per gallon. This is the highest level since 2022, when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine shook the global energy markets.
