China Breaks New Record in Optical Communication Transmission

People’s Financial News, March 25 — According to Science and Technology Daily, on the 24th, reporters learned from the China Information Technology Group’s National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication Technology and Networks that the laboratory, in collaboration with Pengcheng Laboratory and FiberHome FTTX Fiber Technology Co., Ltd., achieved significant technological breakthroughs in ultra-large capacity real-time optical transmission. For the first time, on a 10.3-kilometer, 24-core single-mode fiber, they realized a real-time bidirectional transmission capacity of 2.5 petabits per second (Pb/s). This marks another key breakthrough by China Information Technology Group in the field of “ultra-large capacity, ultra-high speed, and long-distance” optical transmission.
