IT House, February 26 — According to The Information on Wednesday, an OpenAI spokesperson said that OpenAI has hired former Apple AI foundational model team leader Ruoming Pang.

Pang left Apple about seven months ago to join Meta, and now has moved to OpenAI.

Pang was responsible for Meta’s Superintelligence Laboratory AI infrastructure, which is developing Meta’s next-generation AI models. It is reported that he left Meta last week after several months of active recruitment by OpenAI.

According to Bloomberg, Pang joined Meta last year with a multi-year compensation plan exceeding $200 million (Note: approximately 1.374 billion RMB at current exchange rates).

Pang was a core leader of Apple’s Foundation Models (AFM) team, leading a team of about 100 people at Apple, responsible for developing large language models (LLMs), which form the foundation of Apple Intelligence and other AI features.
