Israel states that it currently has no plans to hold direct talks with Lebanon
Israeli Foreign Minister Sall stated on the 15th that Israel has no plans to hold direct talks with the Lebanese government in the coming days. Sall told the media in a northern town in Israel that Israel “hopes the Lebanese government will take concrete measures to prevent Hezbollah from firing at Israel.” Sall’s statement contradicts a report by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on the 14th, which cited sources saying that representatives from Israel and Lebanon are expected to hold talks within a few days. Sall said that Israel and the United States share a common resolve “to continue fighting Iran until our goals are achieved.” He also mentioned that Israel “does not lack” air defense interceptors. Recently, the Israeli military has conducted frequent operations in southern Lebanon. On the evening of the 14th, Hezbollah issued a statement saying that Hezbollah fighters engaged in direct clashes with Israeli troops near the town of Hiyam, close to the Lebanon-Israel border in southern Lebanon.
