The 40-day 2026 Spring Festival travel rush is coming to an end. On March 13, reporters learned from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport that during the 39 days of the Spring Festival travel period, Baiyun Airport handled a passenger volume of 10.19 million, becoming the first airport nationwide to surpass 10 million travelers during Spring Festival, setting a new record.

The continuous increase in passenger flow reflects the growing economic vitality of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and also demonstrates the ongoing improvement in Baiyun Airport’s comprehensive support capabilities. In recent years, Baiyun Airport has continuously optimized its route network layout, accelerated the recovery and expansion of international flights, and improved terminal operation efficiency and passenger service experience. These efforts have promoted the synchronized growth of aviation transportation scale and quality, gradually forming an important aviation hub that radiates both domestically and internationally.

During the Spring Festival travel period, the terminal at Baiyun Airport was bustling yet orderly. Travelers from all over the world hurried with their luggage—some heading home for reunions, others starting new journeys. Inside the hall, announcements echoed continuously, airport staff moved through the crowds, providing patient guidance and assistance. A busy yet warm “Spring Festival travel scene” was unfolding here.

This year, a series of activities such as “Come to Guangdong for the New Year” and “Guangzhou Goods Travel the World” have been launched with great excitement and continued popularity, driving increased personnel movement and consumer activity. Baiyun Airport’s transportation operations have seen a strong “opening success.” During the Spring Festival travel period, passenger and cargo volumes increased significantly, with multiple days exceeding 250,000 passengers per day, indicating a robust market recovery. Meanwhile, the full operation of the T3 International Area has become an important step for Baiyun Airport to implement the “high-level opening-up” policy and enhance its international aviation hub status.

To ensure efficient and convenient travel for passengers, Baiyun Airport focuses on the “last mile” of passenger travel. From rail transit integration, ground transportation, to emergency support, the airport has upgraded transportation services across multiple dimensions, building a “rail + ground + emergency” integrated convenient transfer system, striving to create an efficient, convenient, and smooth travel environment.

As the international route network gradually recovers and the hub’s functions are continuously strengthened, Baiyun Airport is accelerating the construction of an air gateway connecting China with the world. Moving forward, Baiyun Airport will continue to improve operational efficiency and service quality, fully committed to building a safe, efficient, intelligent, and humanistic world-class aviation hub. This will inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and contribute to Guangdong’s leading role in advancing Chinese modernization.
